Calculations
Rainwater Harvesting is a fairly simple concept and is easily achived by channeling to a centeral point or points
rainwater that has fallen onto a roof or hard standing. This single point or points is the water butt or tank. Filtration
of this rainwater is usually required in order to keep your harvest clean and fresh. Your harvest can now be kept for months
until you are ready to use it.
Often a good rule of thumb is a tank size 5% of your total annual harvest. This is because it is unusual
to go without rain for anymore than 18 days (5% of the year). Tank sizing can also be based on usage but tends to point to larger tank sizes.
